Esmeralda O. Lyn

Dr. Esmeralda O. LynDr. Esmeralda Lyn is the Distinguished Professor Emerita of Hofstra University having served as the C.V. Starr Distinguished Professor of Finance and International Financial Services from 2005 to 2011. She joined the faculty of the Frank G. Zarb School of Business in 1982, after graduating with a Ph.D. in finance from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York at Baruch College, where she was awarded the Oscar Lasdon Prize for Best Dissertation. She has an MBA in Finance from St. John’s University, NY, and has attended a number of Executive Education Programs at Harvard Business School.

Dr. Lyn’s areas of specialization include international finance and investments, corporate restructuring, corporate governance and socially responsible investing. Dr. Lyn has published numerous articles in national and international academic journals such as the Journal of Financial Research, Journal of International Business Studies, Multinational Finance Journal, Global Finance Journal, and Journal of Investing. She has been the recipient of the Beta Gamma Sigma Faculty and Chapter Honoree Awards, the Hofstra University Distinguished Service Award and the Dean’s Service Award.

Dr. Lyn wasalso the founding Editor-in-Chief of Corporate Finance Review from 1996 to 1998 and instituted the first regular columns in a finance journal on online information sources, ethics and regulatory issues. The journal is published by Thomson Reuters six times a year and is an essential resource for CFOs and other senior finance professionals. The journal offers a wide range of cutting edge financial theory and important finance issues in the business world, such as: capital structure, investments, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and international finance.

Dr. Lyn has taught at the University of the Philippines and Erasmus University and has conducted executive seminars and workshops in the United States and abroad. She has been a finance officer at the United Nations and also has previous experience at Integrated Resources and Smith Barney Shearson.

Dr. Lyn currently serves as the Board Chairperson of the Institute for Women’s Policy Research, the leading think tank on women’s issues. She also serves as Board Director/Second Vice Chair of NEFCU, a $2 Billion credit union in NY, and Board Director/Treasurer of the Global Share Resource Foundation.
